THERAPY FOR COLLEGE-AGED CLIENTS
a space to support self discovery
LOS ANGELES | CHICAGO
college is hard, but therapy can help.
I specialize in helping young adults, college students, and emerging adults navigate life transitions, identity exploration, perfectionism, self-development, and more. Whether you're facing anxiety, imposter syndrome, relationship challenges, or just feeling stuck, I offer a space to process, reflect, and grow into the version of yourself you're becoming. Change can be messy, but you don’t have to do it alone.

Let’s be real—life is messy. Relationships are confusing, anxiety is annoying, and sometimes you just need someone to help you figure it all out (preferably without the “just relax” advice). That’s where I come in!
I’m Joanna, a therapist who believes that mental health work doesn’t have to feel overwhelming (or boring). We’ll tackle the big stuff—stress, relationships, self-doubt—but we’ll also laugh, set realistic goals, and celebrate your wins.
Therapy is about finding what works for you—whether that’s deep conversations, actionable steps, or just having a safe place to say, “Wow, this is A LOT.” So, if you're ready to start the journey (or at least think about it), reach out!.
family
counselling
The family unit can be complicated. Sometimes, a third-party (therapist) can help reinstate peace in the home. My aim is to help each member of family feel heard while also gently challenging perspectives & encouraging the family to see other points of view. In family therapy, I am a neutral party & I see the family as a whole, & at the same time, I also recognize the individual members & their unique needs within the unit. In our sessions we can work towards understanding, creating boundaries, and ultimately build a healthier dynamic.
therapy for clients with chronic pain
Chronic pain can feel all-consuming—but it doesn’t have to define your life. I use Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), a mind-body approach that helps you understand how the brain and nervous system can get stuck in pain loops, even after the original injury or trigger has healed. Together, we’ll gently retrain your brain to interpret signals more accurately, reduce fear around pain, and build a sense of safety in your body again. Healing is possible—and you’re not alone.

JSG Therapy is considered an out-of-network provider with insurance companies. I can provide monthly superbills for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Please contact your insurance’s member benefits to learn more about meeting your deductible and your reimbursement rates. To find this information out, please call the number listed on the back of your insurance card and ask the following:
1) What are the benefits for mental health services and what percent do you reimburse for an Out-of-Network provider?
2) How much is the deductible that needs to be met before the benefits are able to be used?
3) What is the allowed amount for CPT code 90834 (therapy)?

Therapy sessions are weekly at the start of the therapy process. Our standard sessions are 50 minutes long.
Once we agree there has been progress, we can discuss reducing frequency of sessions. Likewise, there may be circumstances in which we need to meet more often as well. This can be discussed during our sessions. If at any point during the therapy process we determine that you need more support than I am able to provide ( a higher level of care), I will provide you with appropriate referrals.
-
The rate will be discussed in the initial consultation.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. Since we will agree upon the fee and frequency prior to working together, you will be able to anticipate the total yearly cost of sessions. If you receive a bill that is $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
